Editor's Note: While the management at Walt Disney World had to be nudged (and rather hard at that!) by the fan community to acknowledge Epcot's 25th anniversary at the park itself recently, they have pretty much dropped the ball otherwise as far as press and media, or even offering some kind of official online resource.

Alain over the years has collected an extensive PR image archive from Disney's many park projects, and has put together a four part series featuring a selection of the original Imagineering artwork for Epcot.

While the finished world's fair type of park never matched up to Walt Disney's original vision of a utopian planned community, the concepts that were finally approved were innovative in their own right. Never had the company been so challenged, and rarely since have they tackled as different a project. The concept art reflects some of that vision, before the company's management and its plans for the rest of the resort complex changed. - Al

Part One: Spaceship Earth

We'll start with a Herb Ryman painting showing Spaceship Earth's exterior.

Next is the art for the Cro-Magnon cave sequence, with a detail below.

Strangely, it seems that a scene with dinosaurs was considered before being pulled, although it may look like something from "Universe of Energy."
